Extremely reliable and resistant
For example, touchscreens that are at risk of vandalism in harsh industrial environments, military applications or touch systems must have particularly high reliability and extreme resistance.
The ideal product for these applications is our patented ULTRA touch screen.
4-, 5-, and 8-wire touchscreens
In our product range we offer 4-, 5- and 8-wire touch screens with polyester layer as well as glass-film-glass construction. It should be emphasized that GFG touch screens are considerably more robust and durable than touch screens with a PET top layer.
Resistive 4-wire touchscreens
The Four-Wire is the simplest and oldest design for pressure-based touchscreens. The four-wire operating principle is a proven and at the same time cost-effective design in which a touch screen can be supplied with a PET top layer or GFG glass surface.
Due to the material, 4-wire touchscreens with a polyester layer have the disadvantage that their precision decreases in the long term. The outer polyester layer of the touchscreen is subjected to mechanical stress due to frequent use, which causes the conductive ITO coating on the inside to lose uniformity.
Increased durability with GFG construction
By using a glass surface instead of a PET surface, the ITO layer is much better protected, which means that the wear of the conductive layer is considerably lower and thus the service life is noticeably increased.
In an endurance test, our patented GFG ULTRA touchscreens easily reach 250 million touches per point without any impairment.
Resistive 5- and 8-wire touchscreens
In the case of 5- and 8-wire touch screens, the additional wire cables prevent a decrease in precision by not using the outer conductive layer as a measure of the position of the pressure point. It is only used to pass the voltage from the bottom layer and is connected with an additional fifth wire.
In the case of the 8-wire variation, the additional cables are used to tap the measured voltages not at the supply line, but via separate test leads.
Qualitatively superior
The 5- and 8-wire variations are qualitatively superior to a 4-wire touch screen, but they are also more expensive to manufacture.
Our experienced technicians will be happy to advise you on the best design variant in order to develop an optimal touch screen at highly competitive prices for the intended application.
